The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in South Austin is a magical place. It’s one of those special venues where nature flourishes with a certain air of enchantment. Gnarly old live oaks, blooming meadows, and twisting creeks completely surround the central garden patio, making this the perfect setting for a storybook wedding. Sharon and Greg, though not originally from Austin, got here as fast as they could. With places like the Wildflower Center, it’s easy to see why. Add in family, friends, and food and you have yourselves one fabulous garden party! Congratulations Sharon and Greg!
Here’s a sneak peek from Sharon & Greg’s wedding at the Wildflower Center. We can’t wait to share more photos from this one!
If I had to pick a favorite wedding venue right now it would be The Creek Haus in Dripping Springs. Weddings here are simply hard to beat.
The land surrounding Drippings Springs is some of the most gorgeous in all of the Texas Hill Country. Huge oak trees, streams, rolling hills, and swimming holes are seemingly everywhere you look. Drop a beautifully designed wedding venue next to a spring fed creek in the middle of this landscape and you have The Creek Haus.
Jessica and Chad were literally in the middle of moving from New York to Los Angeles when they got married! Like I always say, if you are going to make a pit stop on a cross country road trip to get married, you would be hard pressed to find a location more beautiful than the Texas Hill Country.
Complete the weekend with party barge on Lake Travis, Texas BBQ from Pok-e-jos, local beer from Austin Beerworks, treats from The Peached Tortilla, and a first dance to live music performed by one of your dearest friends and you have the makings for one hell of a party.
Cheers to Chessica!
It’s easy to see why Hailey and Michael chose The Vista on Seward Hill for their wedding! The views from this west Austin hillside are phenomenal and the towering oak trees provide almost complete shade from the Texas sun. At night the trees become the framework for a huge canopy of sparkling lights. There are almost endless trails and hidden “rooms” within the grounds, creating the perfect spots for guests to explore. It’s a truly magical place!
After an intimate ceremony on the lawn and a lovely seated dinner everyone headed inside for dancing and cake. Hailey is a pastry chef, so it was no surprise that the cakes were stunning. The DJ, Anthony, was an incredible host and kept the crowd dancing all night long! The evening wrapped up with a colorful confetti exit under the stars.
There is incredible truth in a heartfelt speech, something that transcends the moment and touches everyone in the room. Brooke and Julian are wonderful people and the speeches given at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding were a testament to that. We were honored to be asked to shoot their wedding.
The Barr Mansion, with it’s deep Texas history, is an Austin icon and a truly classic place to tie the knot. The two story home still charms after 100 years and makes for a great place to get ready before heading out onto the grounds for a ceremony underneath the towering pecan trees. The Barr Mansion became the first wedding venue in the country to be organically certified and you will find wonderful gardens filled to the brim with growing vegetables and fruits. It’s an intimate venue designed with a perfect balance of function and form, and perfect place to spend a special evening with 100 of your closest friends.
To Brooke and Julian, here’s to you both, and to the first of many of those special evenings.
