The Hummingbird House is a hidden gem of a wedding venue. It’s a lush oasis of waterfalls, secret pathways, and home to more tropical plants than the Zilker Botanical Gardens. It’s basically the South Austin version of Hawaii minus the volcanos and Magnum P.I. So naturally we were thrilled when Emily and David asks up to photograph their wedding here since we are big fans of paradise.
When we arrived David was wearing flip flops and drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon through a silly straw. Now, I don’t know about you, but I respect that kind of professionalism. Deeply. In fact both Emily and David are as laid back as it gets and two of the most genuine people you could hope to meet.
The weather, no surprise, was phenomenal as it always is in paradise. Throw in some classic rock, dinner from the Peached Tortilla, plus some awesome family and friends and you the recipe for the perfect evening! Congratulations Emily and David!
A fun sneak peek from Ciara & John’s fall wedding near the University of Texas campus.
Jocelyn and Prakash were married at the historic Central Christian Church in downtown Austin followed by a beautiful reception at the Bob Bullock Musuem. It was obvious how much family & friends mean to these two, and both sides of the family delivered some of the most touching speeches we’ve heard in a long time.
Much to the guest’s delight, food was also a big part of this wedding. One of Prakash’s favorite things to do is share food with his friends and it shows, as there was an endless feast of foods throughout the evening. Upon arriving at Bob Bullock there were two food trucks offering bite-sized Indian appetizers by the huge Texas star. Once inside everyone was seated for a delicious full course meal by candlelight. Not to be outdone by the abundance of savory foods, dessert was a huge selection of mini-cupcakes, cake, and an endless assortment of tiny treats like mousse cups, chocolate covered strawberries and fruit tarts. Just before the reception ended, a table was piled high with warm, just-baked Tiff’s Treats cookies for guests to enjoy on the ride home.
A spectacular sparkler exit capped off one of the most touching and heartfelt weddings we have ever photographed. Needless to say the night was filled with love and food and we went home smiling having been a part of it.
Matt & Stephanie came all the way from Seattle to have their wedding just outside of Austin at the amazing Studios at Fischer! The wedding party had a blast all day long despite the incredible rainstorms! The sky cleared just as the sun was going down and we made our way outside to take in the wildflowers. We loved Stephanie & Matt’s sharp sense of humor and ability to roll with the raindrops!
A huge thank you to The Studios at Fischer, a creatively inspired hill country oasis just a bit south of the the wedding capital of Texas – Dripping Springs. Fischer is quickly becoming the new place to tie the knot in Central Texas, and for good reason. The landscapes here are peaceful and far enough away from Austin that you feel grounded to the earth in a way that’s hard to put into words.
Congratulations Matt & Stephanie!
